Sadıkoğlu: "The Simplified Procedure Should Continue"
15 September 2025 07:36 · 6 viewsMalatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO) Board Chairman Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu stated that the transition of thousands of businesses from the simplified taxation system to the actual taxation system by 2026 will create certain grievances, emphasizing that businesses will not be able to bear this burden and demanded the continuation of the old system.
The simplified taxation system will end for businesses operating in districts with a population exceeding 30,000 in metropolitan provinces. The decision published in the Official Gazette will come into effect as of January 1, 2026.
According to the decision, businesses engaged in commodity production and trade, construction works, motor vehicle maintenance and repair, restaurants and similar establishments, entertainment and leisure venues, and intra-city passenger transportation will no longer be subject to the simplified taxation system. These businesses will now be subject to the actual taxation system.
"THE NEW SYSTEM MEANS NEW BURDENS, BUSINESSES DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY TO HANDLE THIS BURDEN"
Chairman Sadıkoğlu stated that the new practice will put businesses in a difficult position, saying, "According to the information we obtained from the Malatya Tax Office, there are approximately 7,500 businesses in our province that will fall under the new practice. These businesses are located in our districts of Battalgazi, Yeşilyurt, Doğanşehir, and Akçadağ, where the population exceeds 30,000. All these businesses will transition from the simplified taxation system to the actual taxation system in 3.5 months. The implementation will lead to serious economic problems for businesses. The new practice will also bring additional obligations. Our tradespeople do not have the capacity to bear this burden. In our city, which has experienced major earthquakes, thousands of businesses are still struggling to survive in 21-square-meter containers. Under such circumstances, transitioning to a new ledger and accounting system will be challenging. We demand that the practice be reconsidered and the old system be maintained. We have conveyed our request through official channels to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Revenue Administration. We will closely monitor the process."
