National Assembly Elections of Bulgaria

It has been reported that, in accordance with a letter received from the General Directorate of Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior, ballot boxes will be opened in our country for the National Assembly Elections to be held in the Republic of Bulgaria on April 19, 2026. Cooperation and assistance are requested, particularly regarding voting and counting procedures as well as security measures, and relevant institutions have been asked to be informed.

On the other hand, it is stated by relevant non-governmental organizations that a significant portion of Bulgarian citizens residing in Turkey, as well as individuals who hold both Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship and thus have the right to vote in Bulgarian elections, are actively engaged in the workforce. Some of these individuals work in public institutions and organizations, while others are employed in the private sector, particularly in organized industrial zones. Due to their working days and hours, some of these individuals face difficulties in exercising their right to vote.

In this regard, for individuals who have the right to vote in the Bulgarian elections in our country:

1. Necessary facilitation should be provided in the leave procedures before and after the election day, especially for public employees working in health, security, education, and training sectors, to ensure they can comfortably exercise their voting rights and access the ballot boxes they choose.

2. Necessary correspondence should be made with organized industrial zone directorates and professional chambers to ensure that individuals working in the private sector can comfortably exercise their voting rights and access the ballot boxes they choose, and employers should grant the necessary leave for these employees.

3. Cooperation should be maintained with relevant non-governmental organizations to inform individuals with the right to vote about the aforementioned matters.

It is deemed necessary to take the required measures and facilitate the voting process for individuals with the right to vote. Your attention to this matter is kindly requested.
