7 August 2025 11:06 · 6 viewsOur Vice Chairman of the Board Basri İlhan, along with Board Members Hakan Çetin and Özcan Dündar, and Assembly Member Mehmet Can Kapusuz, attended the Eastern Anatolia Economy and Cooperation Forum organized by the Malatya Provincial Presidency of the International Investment and Business Confederation (ULUSKON).
At the forum, which was attended by ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 30 different countries, our Vice Chairman Basri İlhan delivered a presentation highlighting Malatya's industrial strength, trade volume, and investment opportunities, introducing the city's economic potential.
Calling for investment in Malatya, İlhan addressed the ambassadors in his speech, stating: "As the Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during this period of post-earthquake recovery, we aim to open a new window for both our apricots and our industry. Our country and the global market know us as the center of apricot production. However, as Malatya, we want to make our mark not only with apricots but also with our strong industrial and production infrastructure. We have endured major earthquakes and suffered significant wounds. Our city is recovering rapidly. Alongside physical reconstruction, we also need economic recovery. Our Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) already has established sectors such as textiles and food. In addition, we are striving to attract investors in sectors like defense industry, health technologies, software, electronics, and renewable energy. Malatya's annual exports currently stand at $450–500 million. We aim to increase this figure to $1 billion. Our greatest goal is to join the ranks of export hubs like Kocaeli, Gaziantep, Kayseri, and Konya. The path to this lies in diversifying production, adapting to the green transformation, and expanding technology-focused investments. We now prioritize becoming a city known not just for apricots but also for planned investments, resilient production infrastructure, and a sustainable industrial vision. Today, we hope that this Cooperation Forum, held with the participation of our esteemed ambassadors, will contribute to our economic collaboration."
