President Sadıkoğlu was a guest on Bloomberg HT.

Our Board Chairman Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu participated in the 30 Dakika program broadcasted on Bloomberg HT, making significant statements regarding the economic issues in our city and proposed solutions.

Sadıkoğlu emphasized the need for positive discrimination in accessing finance for Malatya, Hatay, Adıyaman, and Kahramanmaraş, which are among the provinces most affected by the earthquake. He stated, "We need to recover economically as much as we need physical reconstruction. The most urgent need for our earthquake-affected businesses is, of course, money. Our tradespeople are experiencing business contraction, and our industrialists are struggling under increasing costs. While fighting inflation, the flow of money to the real sector has seriously halted. Commercial loan interest rates have reached 60%, and consumer loan interest rates have reached 70%. It is very difficult to access credit with these costs. Low-interest, or preferably interest-free, loans should be provided specifically for the earthquake region."

THE BREATH LOAN DID NOT EVEN SERVE AS A BAND-AID

Chairman Sadıkoğlu noted that the KGF-backed breath loan provided by TOBB did not meet expectations. He said, "TOBB announced that they provided a total of 30 billion TL in breath loans to 23,515 firms with KGF guarantees, just the other day. From Malatya, 1,100 of our members applied for the breath loan. Only 106 of our members were able to use the loan. The breath loan did not even serve as a band-aid, let alone heal the wound. We are requesting special interest-free loan packages for the earthquake region."

100% LOSS IN APRICOTS

Chairman Sadıkoğlu stated that the agricultural frost disaster on April 12 caused significant damage to apricot producers. He warned, "Almost all of our apricots, which are EU geographically indicated products, were destroyed. 123 days have passed, and not a single penny has been paid to the producers. If no support is provided, producers will have to cut down their trees." Sadıkoğlu noted that apricots provide Malatya with an annual foreign exchange income of 500 million dollars, but due to the frost, export revenues have declined to 377 million dollars.
