Vice President İlhan delivered a speech at the Economic Strategies Congress.

The 3rd International Congress on Sustainable Business and Economic Strategies was held under the auspices of Malatya Turgut Özal University, with the support of Istanbul Kent University, Kadir Has University, İnönü University, and Adıyaman University.

Basri İlhan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Malatya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, delivered a speech at the congress.

In his speech, İlhan stated the following:

“I would like to begin my remarks by expressing our satisfaction that this international-level congress is being held in our city of Malatya this year.

Malatya is a city with a strong agricultural identity, a clear industrialization trend, an established trade culture, ongoing post-earthquake reconstruction, high potential, and a robust regional role.

The backbone of our city’s economy is, of course, apricots.

Our apricots, which hold the European Union Geographical Indication certification, generate $500 million in annual foreign exchange revenue, making them not only a significant economic asset for our province but also for our country.

This vital agricultural product was severely affected by the agricultural frost that occurred this year.

When the backbone of the economy suffers damage, the entire city’s economy also faces profound challenges.

In the face of such a disaster, the need for sustainable business models and economic strategies becomes evident.

This is why we attach great importance to today’s congress.

We all witness that the world is changing.

The global trade paradigm is evolving.

The era we live in is one where economic growth gains meaning only through environmental sensitivity, social responsibility, and long-term value creation.

Sustainability is no longer an option but a mandatory transformation area for both businesses and societies.

The primary purpose of our gathering here today is to acquire new knowledge, bring together diverse disciplines, and establish a strong collaborative foundation to shape the future economic landscape.

We are excited to listen to the scientific contributions of our esteemed academics, the experiences of our business leaders, and the innovative perspectives of the youth throughout the congress.

I wholeheartedly believe that each presentation and discussion will open new horizons for us.
